The SnapRays Guidelight

What is the SnapRays Guidelight?

The SnapRays Guidelight is a plug-and-play replacement for the standard plug-in night lights and hardwired guide lights found on the market today; it installs within seconds and requires no wires or batteries.  Designed to look like and replace the standard outlet cover plate, the SnapRays Guidelight is equipped with light emitting diodes (LEDs) to provide illumination in the dark while keeping both outlets available for use at all times.  For convenience, the Guidelight includes a light sensor that automatically turns the LEDs on in the dark and off in the light.

How does it work?

The SnapRays Guidelight is designed to be installed over the standard electrical outlet.  As the user installs the Guidelight, the patented "Power Extractors" on the back side of the Guidelight slide into the electrical box and around the outlet receptacle making contact with the screw terminals located on the sides of the outlet.  This proprietary technology is what enables the device to extract power from the receptacle without having to hardwire, plug into or occupy an outlet.

Installs in Seconds

Installing the SnapRays Guidelight takes only seconds. First power is turned off to the outlet.  The existing cover plate is then removed and the SnapRays Guidelight is inserted over the outlet and fastened in place. The power is turned back on.  The Guidelight will illuminate once the area is dark.

Sleek, low profile design

Designed to look like and replace the standard outlet cover plate.  A light sensor on the face of the Guidelight automatically turns the LEDs off during the day and on at night.  This allows for the Guidelight to blend in with it's surroundings during the day while providing ambient/accent lighting at night.

Designed for Energy Efficiency

Outlets always available for use

Because of the Guidelight's power extraction technology, both outlets remain open and available for use at all times.

Great for Children

All of the electronics of the SnapRays Guidelight are encapsulated inside the coverplate, making it a much more child friendly and robust alternative than the standard night lights available today.

What styles and colors of Guidelights are available?

SnapRays Guidelights are available in two different styles: duplex (two separate holes) and decor (one rectangular hole).  Please note that the decor Guidelights fit over GFCI outlets and decor switches, but will not work because the GFCI outlets and decor switches do not have the required side screw terminals.  The Guidelights are only for installation over standard duplex or decor outlets.

What type of outlets can be used with the SnapRays Guidelights?

SnapRays Guidelights are available in a range of styles and colors.  The Guidelights are compatible with standard duplex and décor outlets that have exposed screw terminals, regardless of the manufacturer or year.  SnapRays Guidelights do not work with Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlets that are sometimes found in bathrooms. The GFCI outlets do not have the required screw terminals.

What orientation does the SnapRays Guidelight work in?

The SnapRays Guidelight is designed to work in only one orientation. The lights are designed to be installed facing the same direction as the ground prongs on the outlet.  For example: If the ground prongs on the outlet are facing down, the Guidelight will need to be installed with the lights facing down. If the ground prongs are facing up, then the Guidelight will need to be installed with the lights facing up.
